Encourage your children to get involved with entering competitions. It gives them a chance to see their writing published online, as well as giving them a mental buzz. Check out RIF This UK-based site gives tips and ideas to motivate your children to read. It has readings and writing activities for children from the ages of 0-19..

ChapterOne Promotions is a UK based literary site, and regularly has competitions in its Kids Korner section. They are currently holding a writing competition, with the closing date being Friday 31 October 2008 for children aged between 7 and 18.

Check out more writing contests for children at AmazingKids!Contests, a US site. This website promotes the excellence in children, based on the belief, that all children have the ability to be amazing in their own way.

StoneSoup, based in California is  an online magazine by young writers and artists, aged 8-13. They contribute their creative works online, poems, stories and book reviews. Have a good read of the featured story by Bonnie Leigh Cruse aged 13. Great stuff!.
