Sleep on it
How many times have you pounded on a particular problem, and tried to rack your brain with solutions. ‘Why can’t I do this? WHY, WHY, WHY?’ It’s frustrating isn’t it. You find yourself using your precious time trying to be analytical and rational, but it doesn’t get you anywhere, apart from the issue of a mild headache. (Or maybe not so mild, depending how long you’ve been hammering away at the problem.) Also, the more you ‘force’ the situation, the worse it gets. You can’t honestly expect to find the missing link to that short story with a confused mind. So what’s the answer? Sleep on it. Sleeping on problems usually creates some kind of a solution in the morning. Our analytical mind goes into neutral gear, whilst our intuitive mind steps up into first gear. Intuition stems from our subconscious, and possesses knowledge, without the need to rationalize. It can be described as moving on to a higher awareness, and you can be intuitive through your dreams, meditation and prayer for example.
An analytical mind paves the way for the intuitive mind to take over for a while.
As Deepak Chopra says:
Stillness alone is the potentiality for creativity; movement alone is creativity restricted to a certain aspect of its expression. But the combination of movement and stillness enables you to unleash your creativity in all directions.
